James Guan

James has an engineering degree and speaks 4 languages fluently (Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and English). He has informed insight into cultural nuances with enormous experience in engineering, IT, research, marketing, branding, hospitality and government relationships etc. Having studied and worked in both New Zealand and China provides James with a native understanding of both cultures, and his experience working in Chinese, Kiwi and Japanese companies has gifted him with exceptional multilingual skills and accurate perception on both how the East and the West work. It is this unique set of skills that enable James to assist various brands to effectively raise their profile and efficiently carry out business plans in the highly competitive Asian markets.

 

James has been honoured with the 2016 Best Asian Practising Professional Award granted by MCA Hawke’s Bay.

 

In his spare time, James enjoys performing stand up comedy with the stage name, Jimmy Guan, and has been producing shows including the very successful NZ Comedy Festival Show — Two and a Half Asian Men at the Q Theatre in Auckland.
